Mark Cuban on Wednesday said former President Trump “talks a good game” when it comes to the economy, but ”it doesn’t mean he … gets the job done.”

“Why does Trump even have the perception of being good on the economy?” MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace asked the billionaire investor and TV personality on “Deadline: White House.”

“I mean, he’s a good salesperson, you know?” Cuban responded. “He talks a good game, but it doesn’t mean he follows through or gets the job done.”

The remarks follow Cuban’s criticism of Trump over a recent threat the former president made to slap large tariffs on John Deere if it outsources part of its manufacturing to Mexico.

“This Lack of Understanding of Business is insane,” Cuban said in a post on the social platform X Monday. “Put a 200% tariff on the American company moving some production to Mexico[.] But tariff Chinese manufacturers 10 or 20%, so that the Chinese products will be cheaper to sell in the US than the American company.”

In his interview on MSNBC, Cuban again noted Trump’s comments regarding John Deere.

“We saw him threaten John Deere with a 200 percent tariff,” Cuban said. “That doesn’t do anything to make John Deere’s business better. In fact, it makes it easier for Chinese companies to compete with John Deere, even after a 10 or 20 percent tariff.”

Cuban has endorsed Vice President Harris in her bid for the White House and has referred to her as “pro-business.”

“She’s a good CEO who says, ‘We need to do this right, because I’m responsible to my stakeholders and we need to make sure we do it the right way,’” Cuban said of the vice president in the MSNBC interview. “You could not have a greater difference between two candidates.”

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for a response to Cuban’s latest remarks.
