Former President Trump is slated to deliver remarks Thursday in Michigan where he’s expected to speak on the economy, inflation and manufacturing, with just 68 days left until the November election.
The campaign stop in Potterville, Mich. — just south of the capital city Lansing — marks Trump’s third visit to the Wolverine State in the past nine days, including a speech he gave Monday to the National Guard Association in Detroit.
The former president won Eaton County, where part of Lansing is located, in 2016 and by a smaller margin against President Biden in 2020. Biden was trailing Trump by 2.6 points in the state before he announced his decision to withdraw from the race.
Vice President Harris, who has emerged as the Democratic nominee, is leading the former president by more than 4 points in the state. The Hill/Decision Desk HQ polling index shows Harris with 49.2 percent support compared to the GOP presidential nominee’s 44.8 percent.
The two campaigns have been making the rounds through the battleground states, including Michigan, as they carve out their policy ambitions ahead of the election.
The event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
